In just 100 years, management practices will have undergone a significant transformation. Someone believed that reintroducing wolves to the western environment would be a good idea. It was referred to as a reintroduction, even though wolves were unleashed into regions where there was no historical evidence of their presence. Wolves were brought down from Canada and permitted to freely graze on the abounding herds of large game. Thus creating the hunting tactic of trapping. While most hunters don’t release animals they catch, one couple did and got a bit too close to this ancient canine.
Naturally Defensive
The video starts by showing a gorgeous gray wolf standing alone in a field. It starts barking at those coming closer to him. It’s actually relatively rare to hear a wolf bark. As you can assume, this sound is a warning to back away and is often heard from mother wolves when someone or something is getting too close to their cubs. Wolves normally reserve their barking for times of fear, and their bark is more akin to a brief, piercing yelp than a dog’s protracted “woof.” Wolves can express their emotions by barking along with other vocalizations like howling, whimpering, and snarling. The man attempts for several minutes to get a hold of the wolf but the wild animal continues to bark and even bite the catching device. Eventually, he gets the ring around the wolf’s neck, and another person steps in. With a gun in tow, a woman prepares for the release of the wolf. As soon as the man releases the ring from the animal’s neck, it sprints off into the woods. You can physically feel the adrenaline this couple must’ve experienced during this release! A fellow hunter makes a comment on the video. They say, “You did well. Thanks for being a good person, releasing the wolf, and following the rules. You give hunters a good name. Thank you again.” Trapping doesn’t always end so well for both parties involved. It’s safe to say this couple knows what they’re doing and safely releases animals back into the wild.
